WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Why your own baseline adds context that someone else's numbers cannot.

What is HRV?

Heart rate variability describes differences in the time between heartbeats. Apple Health includes an SDNN measure. WHOOP Recovery data includes RMSSD. Both describe HRV, but their numbers are not directly interchangeable.

Cernidia treats the source as part of the information. Two readings do not become comparable just because both are called HRV.

How Cernidia adds recovery context

After you grant access, Cernidia can put suitable Apple Health signals, including HRV and resting heart rate, into the context of your history. Personal comparisons require enough suitable readable records. Until then, the app shows a learning state or an unknown value.

A direct WHOOP connection supplies WHOOP's own Recovery score. It stays labelled as a WHOOP value. Connecting WHOOP alone does not establish a personal Apple Health baseline.

Read the report alongside how you feel

A check-in adds your own perspective. You can consider whether an assessment matches how today feels. Recorded signals, your self-report and a calculated estimate each retain their own meaning.

A practical next step may be to review your day: which task needs focus, and where could a break fit? Cernidia can offer context. It does not turn an HRV reading into a diagnosis or a prescriptive training decision.

Before comparing two numbers

Check the source, time period and data status. A gap is not a low reading. A change in source is not, by itself, evidence of a physical change.

Cernidia supports general wellness and everyday choices. A score does not replace qualified professional advice on medical questions.

A few things to know.

What is a good HRV?

Cernidia does not treat a universal HRV target as a personal assessment. A useful comparison needs a suitable source and enough readable personal history.

Are WHOOP Recovery and Cernidia Readiness the same?

No. Their sources and calculations differ. WHOOP values stay labelled and do not replace suitable Apple Health history.
